Professional History and Qualifications

I have been licensed as an Attorney in the State of California since 1974, and in the State of Washington since 2005. Washington bar membership also entitles me to practice, on a reciprocal admission basis, in 28 additional states. In addition, I have held a California Real Estate Broker’s License since 1980, which I have used in my own brokerage business, « Dodge, Myers & Co. » and to assist major corporate clients and employers in connection with real estate assets, leases and transactions.

  • Private Practice – In San Diego, starting with personal injury and family law matters, but moving quickly from there into business litigation, real estate and general corporate work – 8 years before moving to Los Angeles.
  • General Counsel – To major NYSE-listed financial services company and a spin-off international merchant bank – 5 years.
  • General Counsel and COO – For the largest independent media buyer in the country – 5 years.
  • General Counsel and Licensing Director – For a major niche publisher of lifestyle magazines, brand licensor and event producer – 10 years.

  • Trademark-Copyright – Mark clearance investigations; USPTO applications and portfolio management; infringement prosecution and defense; close collaboration with patent lawyers when this expertise called for.
  • Software Licensing – Republishing and specific use license agreements on behalf of developers and integrators of software and game applications sold via OEM, through retail distribution and via Internet download.
  • Real Estate – Commercial and residential development, transactions and finance; licensed Real Estate Broker in California.
